The end of summer has finally come! After a crazy busy and stressful summer involving school and dance, I can finally relax and enjoy what is left of summer. The girls all came together for the first time in a really really long time. We celebrated 3 birthdays at once at my house in a BBQ that I called “Birthday Threesome”... We gossiped, ate, laughed and drank some sexy drinks. My gf Mel from Dubai and her boyfriend were here, my gf Dav from Texas, and then the locals girls plus a rare appearance from our friend Grace. The bf’s were all in attendance and my brother played chef over the hot bbq... all in all a delicious success with a piece of delish ice cream cake to end the night.
The CNE for many represents the last couple weeks before school begins, for me its all that plus the craziest two weeks of dance before school starts. So on Friday Aug21 the CNE opened and we went as a dance group to perform in the international pavilion and it was a great show like every year... After my performance I walked around the CNE with B then we walked across to the Molson amphitheatre to see if we could score some tickets to see Pearl Jam for their Sold Out show... So we asked a scalper if he had tickets and he only had one *tear*. So Bruno just kept walking and went in and I said to him “We can’t just walk in if we don’t have tickets, we need to go back out there and find a scalper who has tickets” his response was “ What for we have tickets” and he pulled out a pair of tickets he bought months ago. It was an amazing concert I don’t think I can ever get tired of seeing Pearl Jam and I can’t believe he kept a secret from me for so long.
Labour Day weekend I went to the CNE again but this time for fun and for yet another concert. This time it was B, his friend and my gf Yvette. As girls we were interested in playing games and winning stuffed animals and we both ended up winning a little Miss Sunshine, Keroppi and I got a Crazy frog from Bruno while Yvette went home with some other stuffed friends. The guys on the other hand were interested in winning a pocket bike or an acoustic guitar. At the amphitheatre we saw The Killers and the evening was kindda cool and breezy but other than that it was a good concert. After the concert was over we went back to the CNE for a while longer to play some more games, food and BINGO... I won! And Yvette and I play some free games and the guy didn’t even know haha, we’re so sneaky lol
September rolls around and school begins and surely enough I had to get tons of homework on my first day back but who am I to complain, I’m just really excited that I have finally entered my last year and that I am now ¾ of the way to completing my education.... I look forward to graduating.
I was expecting to do something special for Bruno’s Birthday since he has done so much for me in these last few months... The original plan was to take him out to watch “We will rock you” because I know he likes Queen however when I was looking for tickets I saw that the last show was earlier this summer at the end June. So I was stumped but I finally came up with an idea and after a lucky search I found a great deal for floor tickets to go see U2 for their 360 tour. So when I gave B his card at first he was happy but after I think it really hit him and he was excited. I think we both had a great time at the concert and it was so far the BEST concert I have seen all year.
Well another summer has come and gone and like all things that are fun and exciting... all good things must come to an end

Oh Canada...Eh!

What a gorgeous day it was for Canada celebrations, I unexpectedly spent my day at Mississauga city hall and it was pretty fun. I have never really gone to Canada day celebrations in Mississauga except for once when I had to perform but even on that day I still didn’t stick around after. We walked around and watched the entertainment ( Chinese dragon dancers, martial arts school, variety show… etc)
Later on in the evening they had performances by Kreesha turner & Sloan and to finish off the evening right a spectacular show of fireworks right above city hall … Okay well maybe not so spectacular but its was LONGGG.
I thought that the fire works would be kind of limited and maybe 5 10 minutes but nooo not at all. The fire works display went on for what looked like 30 minutes or so, and that’s when I thought “Hey that where my dad money for taxes goes” I’m sure those fireworks didn’t come cheap.
Being a first generation Canadian born, I can say that although I am proud of my heritage I’m also really proud to be Canadian. So what makes us so different or unique from out neighbors to the south? What makes us Canadian? So I’ve composed a small list of things Canadian invented, made or inspired.
Maple Leaf, Beaver, Timbits, Maple Syrup, Poutine, Nanimo Bars, Back Bacon, Lacrosse, Hockey, Basketball, Insulin, Walkie Talkies, Zippers, Roller Skates, Toques, Cuban vacations, Metric Measurements, Robertson Screwdriver, IMAX, Cirque du Soleil, Loonie, Toonie, Canadian Tire money, Winnie the pooh and Superman are all things CANADIAN!!!
Oh, and we cant forget Joe's canadian speech....
Enjoy and Happy CANADA Day to All !
Hey.
I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader, and I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dog sled, and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada, although I'm certain they're really, really nice.
I have a Prime Minister, not a President. I speak English and French, not American, and I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.
I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack. I believe in peacekeeping, not policing; diversity, not assimilation; and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A tuque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch, and it is pronounced zed: not zee – zed!!
Canada is the second largest land mass! The first nation of hockey! And the best part of North America!
My name is Joe!! And I am Canadian!
... Thank you

METRIC! ...at Edgefest

There I was despite all the rain and mud flying everywhere I enjoyed every moment of it. The last of the Birthday concert tickets where used and needless to say my dear lovely bf was there right next to me.
So asides all the people soaking wet or covered in mud there was some pretty well known bands playing that day THE ARKELLS, K-OS AFI, MONEEN, THE STILLS,ALEXISONFIRE, BILLY TALENT (the head lining act) and of course what I was waiting for METRIC!!!

All in all I loved being there and has loads of fun, despite all the rain and mud. I was fun watching people walk around in the mud and have their flipflops sucked in by the mud, and as gross as it was I'll never forget the portapotty that had a urinal 3/4 full of Mens dirty piss and my stupid poncho got caught in the door as i was goin in and the stench... Lol the memories I take with me from this day are worth standing in the rain for .

No Doubt...

The concert started off with good performance by Bedouin. They did a few songs and then after that followed Paramore and they were really good. I have to say that I really enjoyed their performance, even though I am not a huge fan I do know a few of their songs and I got to hear some more of their material and I’m really liking it. Apparently they are coming back in Oct sometime because they are releasing a new album soon, so that might be something to look forward to.

Oh! And there was these two teeny girls sitting in front of us and they obviously were huge Paramore fans cus i think they might have creamed their panties a few times when certain songs were played.
Anyways they were just being stupid teenage girls but as they were dancing to songs one of them *ucking wacked me with her stupid flailing arms. She turned around to say sorry but I gave her the nastiest look just for my own amusement and I think she felt bad cus she stop waving her arms in the air like she just didn’t care. She was waving them but I think always careful to not hit me again Hahaha.

And I saw “Flyer Man”!!!! lol I pointed him out and my boyfriend thought I said “spider man “ and he was looking for someone coming down the ceiling hahaha I love it cus that really would have been cool, but anyways I haven’t seen Flyer Man in forever and I just got excited for like a second when I saw him. Thank you “B” for part 2 of birthday concert tickets

The evening started off with a huge line up for parking, semi long walk to the entrance gate, massive line up, a ticket that printed out stupid and wouldnt scan, missing the first hour of the concert due to all the set backs, a gorgeous sunset and accidentally getting on the gardiner after.LOL All in all a perfect concert date!

FOTC !!!!!!!

So Flight of the Conchords have announce thier 2009 spring US tour. As you might have already guessed they will be making a stop in Toronto.
They have announced 2 shows April 21 & 22, 2009 at Massey Hall and tickets are $50 which is really not that bad at all.
Tickets will officially go on sale on Feb 6th & 7th, however as of Feb 2nd there are presale tickets avail and the pre sale password: sugalumps . I wanna go but unfortunatley I have a student budget ( self explanitory). Hopefully by the time the date nears I will have some sort of income and then I can get some off of a scalper... if not who cares, I'm still having Bret's baby !!!
